Es diu que quan algun volcà entra en erupció o quan hi ha algun terratrèmol important en el nostre planeta, les aigües d’aquest estanyol es converteixen en color de cendra, com si la llacuna fóra un baròmetre d’aquestes catàstrofes naturals.
Durant un terratrèmol ocorregut a Nicaragua, que va arrasar la capital, Managua, diversos testimonis van assegurar haver contemplat aquell terrible cataclisme reflectit en les aigües d’aquest misteriós estany.
Se dice que cuando algún volcán entra en erupción o cuando hay algún terremoto importante en nuestro planeta, las aguas de esta laguna se convierten en color de ceniza como si la laguna fuera un barómetro de estas catástrofes naturales.
Durante un terremoto ocurrido en Nicaragua, que arrasó la capital, Managua, varios testigos aseguraron haber contemplado aquel terrible cataclismo reflejado en las aguas de este misterioso estanque.
Por esta razón, los habitantes de Banyoles lo llaman el estanque de Cendra (“cendra” signigica “ceniza” en catalán).
THE LAGOON: BAROMETER OF EARTHQUAKES
It is said that when a volcano erupts or when there is an important earthquake on our planet, the waters of this lagoon turn to ash color as if the lagoon were a barometer of these natural catastrophes.
During an earthquake in Nicaragua, which devastated the capital Managua, several witnesses claimed to have contemplated that terrible cataclysm reflected in the waters of this mysterious pond.
For this reason, the inhabitants of Banyoles call it the pond of Cendra (“cendra” signifies “ash” in Catalan).
